Get to know us

Wild Lines was born from understanding how moving through the outdoors can spark creativity, unblocking stuck writing and get the ideas flowing. Because we live in a such a beautiful place, let's take advantage of this and go!

Our mission

Wild Lines is an event series that invites writers, artists, and those interested in seeking greater creativity on hikes around the Reno/Tahoe area to get outside of their studios and inspired by nature. These hikes aim to not only foster creativity but also build community and support for writers and artists.

Our vision

Reno/Tahoe is home to many creatives. Wild Lines hopes to bring together this community to provide greater support to those who are trying to get off the ground.

Frequently asked questions

How do the hikes work?

Hikes are semi-guided, which means that we will have the opportunity to walk and write on our own time. The group will start together and will meet at specific points along the trail.

How challenging are the hikes?

Each hike explores a different area of town, resulting in varying levels of challenge. Specific event registration pages will provide mileage, terrain profiles, and rating from easy to challenging.

Will we see wildlife?

It is very possible that we will see wildlife while hiking. The most common sightings will be birds and small rodents or rabbits. There is always a chance that we see coyotes, bobcats, horses, snakes, bears, or deer. We will never approach a wild animal. For wildlife safety, visit NDOW’s “Living with Wildlife” article.

Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately, we don't allow pets to join our hikes for the safety of all workshop members and to help keep focus in the group. Exceptions made for certified service animals.

How do I navigate the hike?

It is the responsibility of each participant to download a map of the event route onto their device before each meeting. We recommend using AllTrails to download maps directly to your phone. When maps are downloaded through this app, each user can see their location relevant to the trail regardless of cell service. Our host will send links via email to the AllTrails map before each event. To download AllTrails visit the app store on your device. If you need help with this, please email our host directly at helena.guglielmino@gmail.com.
